How it works ↓
What is an air-bearing turbo blower?
A centrifugal impeller sits directly on the shaft of a permanent-magnet motor turning at very high speed. The shaft floats on a film of air: no rolling bearing, no oil, no belt, no gearbox. The built-in drive sets the flow through speed, from 0.3 to 2 bar. It is the machine for aerating wastewater treatment basins, blowing day and night.

How it works
The turbo blower delivers oil-free air up to 520 m³/min, from 0.3 to 1 bar in the TB series and from 1.2 to 2 bar in the TC series, and sets its flow through the speed of its motor. It is the machine for aeration basins running day and night.
For a small flow, or a network whose back pressure changes with the water depth, the Roots blower, being positive displacement, keeps its flow at a given speed.
A turbo blower is a centrifugal machine: an impeller turning at very high speed accelerates the air, then the volute slows it down, and that slowing down is what builds the pressure. The impeller sits directly on the shaft of a permanent-magnet synchronous motor, with no belt and no gearbox.
The shaft runs on air foil bearings: once it turns, a film of air separates the shaft from the bearing, with no contact and no lubricant. There is therefore no oil anywhere in the machine. The built-in drive sets the speed, hence the flow, and the controller runs it at constant pressure, constant flow or constant speed, with logic that keeps it away from the surge zone.
The motor is cooled by ambient air drawn in by a fan, with no water circuit. Up to 250 HP the machine carries a single impeller, from 300 HP two impellers, one at each end of the shaft.
Aerating the biological basins of wastewater treatment plants, municipal or industrial, is its first use: a large air flow, below 1 bar, running continuously. It also serves filter backwashing, composting, flue gas desulphurisation, surface treatment baths and the pneumatic conveying of powders such as cement or sugar. The TC series goes from 1.2 to 2 bar for processes that need more pressure.
No oil, anywhere
Air bearings, direct-drive motor: no oil, no grease, no belt to replace. The air blown never meets a lubricant.
Up to 520 m³/min
Twenty machines from 10 to 800 HP, from 0.3 to 1 bar in the TB series and from 1.2 to 2 bar in the TC series. Each sets its flow by speed: from 3 to 8 m³/min for the smallest.
Maintenance is filters
Routine maintenance means changing the inlet filters. The manual prescribes the main filter every three months, or as soon as its pressure drop exceeds 1.5 kPa.
Remote control
Touch screen, Modbus RTU over RS485, inputs and outputs for run, stop, fault and a 4-20 mA set point: it connects to the plant's supervision.
No foundation
Vibration is low enough to set the machine down without anchoring or a concrete base, on its adjustable feet.
