ATEX and corrosive environments.
Chemical and petrochemical sites handle flammable, corrosive or toxic products. Compressed air and industrial vacuum must operate in ATEX zone 1 or 2, withstand aggressive vapors, and guarantee integrity even in case of gas backflow from the process to the pneumatic installation.
What needs to be solved.
- 01Maintain ATEX zone 1 or 2 certification across all equipment (compressor, dryer, filtration, vacuum) with complete IECEx documentation.
- 02Withstand corrosive vapors (HCl, H₂S, NH₃) without premature degradation — choice of liquid-ring or dry-screw pumps, anti-corrosion treatments.
- 03Ensure 24/7 operational continuity on batch and continuous processes, with planned preventive maintenance and local parts stock.
A concrete example.
A surfactant production unit using vacuum reactors installs three CZ-VAC-RS50 dry-screw vacuum pumps ATEX zone 1 certified, sized for 0.1 mbar vacuum level. The external casing is treated against atmospheric corrosion. A PLC monitoring system relays alarms to the plant DCS. Preventive maintenance is scheduled quarterly with on-site buffer parts stock.
